IMPROVEMENTS COMPLETED:
Partial reconditioning—Remove original wippens and wippen rail. Remove lift springs of the new replacement Kawai-style wippens. Accommodate shorter tails on the replacement jacks by relocating the regulating rail. Make and install a new support for the wippen flange rail. Remove hammer rail assembly. Clean and polish balance rail pins. Replace key cloth and underkey felt punchings. Reassemble.

On shop bench, make adjustments to ensure that piano plays like new: key height, key levelling, hammer blow distance, lost motion, letoff, drop, backchecks, damper lift, pedals.
